Whip Up a Mandarin Squeezed Juice Vodka Sunrise to Toast Summer
Mandarin Squeezed Juice Vodka Sunrise
Prep time 20 minutes (including syrup)
Makes 1 16-ounce cocktail
Red currant syrup
2 pints fresh or frozen red currants
1/2-3/4 cups sugar
1/2 cup water (more if needed)
Cocktail
1 1/2 ounces red currant syrup (substitute raspberry or plum if currants are not available)
Ice
1 1/2 ounces vodka (we chose Florescence Grapefruit & Pomelo Vodka)
Mandarin Squeezed Juice, to top off
Fresh herbs and extra currents, for garnish
- Bring the washed currents, stems and all, to a simmer along with the sugar and water.
- Simmer over medium heat 8-10 minutes, smashing the berries with a wooden spoon. Thin with a touch of water if it becomes too thick.
- Press the berries through a metal mesh sieve to strain the pulp and stems. Keeps in the fridge 7-10 days.
- Pour the syrup into the bottom of the glass, then top with ice.
- Float the vodka on top, guiding the pour with a spoon.
- Top with mandarin Squeezed Juice.
- Garnish and repeat. Enjoy!
