Florescence: Grapefruit & Pomelo Flavored Vodka

Citrus has been a part of our story at Rustic Joyful Food since the beginning. I once opened a restaurant called Minoela, a name derived from a specific tangerine, the Minneola. Every business I’ve ever created has used citrus in its logos and branding. Citrus is special to me for its interplay of lively sweetness and bitterness, qualities which are reflected in a real, vibrant life. To me, citrus represents hope; the sweet and the bitter, joy and sorrow, can live together. When we envisioned this spirit, we knew it would be like nothing else on the market: uniquely crisp, clean, bright, and timeless.

For years, I’ve worked with Heritage Distilling writing recipes, designing cocktails, and creating beautiful imagery for their distillery. We decided in 2020 to take our partnership further in crafting a fun, delicious glow-up for vodka that spoke to people like us. At Rustic Joyful Food our guiding philosophy is that life is good today, no matter what. Heritage Distilling understands that sentiment, and their award-winning line of craft spirits demonstrates their belief in the value of innovation and quality. We combined these ideologies, and Florescence was born.

Citrus fruits are winter fruits. Grapefruit season occurs during the darker, cooler part of the year. So, in a way, Florescence represents an endless summer. It’s a bright spot in a dark time, so to speak. When we need a bit of joy, there is nothing like the juicy, sour-sweet bite of grapefruit and pomelo.
